Dustin Robert Lowes
(11-11-1981) Having never been formally trained in composition, Dustin Lowes relies on his own experience, exploration and creative ingenuity. His first composition for percussion with electronic accompaniment, "Fear of the Hunted", finished third in the 2005 PAS composition contest. Other highlights include his work for eight percussionists and electronica in "Electrolution" which premiered at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention, 2007. Outside of composing, Dustin Lowes is an educator with an emphasis on marching percussion and music technology. He has spent 13 years as a marching percussionist that ended with 5 years at the Glassmen Drum & Bugle Corps [1999-2003].
Marked by his unrelenting work ethic, Dustin was awarded the “ Glassmen of the year” in 2002 and 2003 for outstanding leadership and dedication to the organization. Now, as an offer of thanks to the outstanding educators of his past, Dustin spends his free time giving back invaluable knowledge and opportunities to young and aspiring students across the nation . After completing his associate degree in mathematics & sciences in 2009, he is currently in the final stages of finishing his bachelor’s in mathematical sciences and secondary education at Penn State. He continues to study the art of composition and music theory privately.
